Day 3

Rapid City, SD to Red Lodge, MT

Our two big stops for the day were:

1. Devil's Tower- America's first national monument! We got close to it but didn't actually pay to go up close, as none of the trails are dog-friendly and we're traveling with Zaxby. It's mostly cool because it's a huge rock face out in the middle of nowhere, though it's also considered sacred ground for many Indian tribes. People climb it all the time, and that would be fun, but we didn't have time for it, nor a guide to help us. But here are some photos!

2. The Little Big Horn Battlefield, aka Custer's last stand. Click here for a refresher course on the history of the place.

The black headstone (center) is where Custer fell.
