Day 2

Bismarck, ND to Rapid City, SD

1. The world's largest cow in New Salem, ND. Yep. Buffalo yesterday, cow today. North Dakota is big on the "World's Largest" thing in general.

2. Another thing North Dakota has a lot of is sunflowers. Fields and fields of them. They're crazy tall. And they're pretty.

3. When heading towards South Dakota, we went a bit out of our way to travel via the Enchanted Highway. Basically some guy wanted to bring some more tourism to the area so he built tons of huge sculptures and placed them along a small highway in North Dakota. "If you build it, they will come." And we did. One of the sculptures (Geese in Flight, below) is supposedly the largest scrap metal sculpture in the world. ND definitely has a size complex.

When in Spearfish, SD, try their coffee!
4. After driving through lots and lots of nothingness in South Dakota, the town of Spearfish was a breath of fresh air. It's super cute and on the outskirts of the beautiful Black Hills, and we found a yummy coffee shop there with a clever name that we thought was worth a mention.

5. Mount Rushmore! Cool. Richie Rich, anyone? It's a little on the pricey side ($11 for parking), but worth it. Nearby Crazy Horse Memorial is unfinished and we were tipped off that for the price ($10/person or $27/car) it's a little underwhelming- and that you can basically see it all from outside the gate. So we did.

Can you name them?
What an honor...

Day 2 down! What to do next...
